New Members' Orientation Purpose

Orientation is provided to introduce new members to the church, the Church's Mission, and the Church's Auxiliaries and Committees. The orientation lessons cover specific passages from the Bible, What We Believe As A Church, the Church Doctrine, the Church Statements of Practical Application, Contemporary Issues, and the Church Covenant. The Orientation Staff will guide and direct new members during the orientation period.

New Members Orientation is designed to provide each new member with the doctrinal principles of the St. John Missionary Baptist Church as inspired by the true word of God. All articles in the New Member's Manual are supported by scripture.

Orientation is for eight (8) weeks.

Orientation I

Sunday Mornings                                        9:30 a.m. - 10:20 a.m.
The first two weeks of orientation for adults is an Introduction to St. John Missionary Baptist Church. These 2 weeks will consist of:
  1. The purpose of Orientation.
  2. Policies that govern Orientation.
  3. A physical tour of the campus.
  4. A review of the Orientation manual.
  5. Rights and Responsibilities as a new member.
  6. Tithing envelopes issuance.
  7. New member's photo taken.
Orientation II
Sunday Mornings                                                                                              9:30 a.m. - 10:20 a.m.
The final eight weeks of orientation for adults will consist of orientation lessons to prepare new members to serve God.

Orientation I                                  
Sunday Mornings                                                                                              9:30 a.m. - 10:20 a.m.
The entire eight weeks of orientation for youth will consist of orientation sessionsthat are designed especially for children.

Right Hand of Fellowship
1st Sunday of each month during the Evening Worship Service                      5:00 p.m.
New members who have completed orientation will receive the Right Hand of Fellowship from the Pastor, recognizing their completion and welcoming them to the St. John Missionary Baptist Church family.

New Member's Day
2nd Sunday in July of each year during the Morning Worship Service            10:30 a.m.
